Picdrop Free: What the Free Plan Includes (2026)
picdrop is available for free: the Free plan offers 1 GB of storage and three galleries, permanently and at no cost. On top of that, you can test all features free for 14 days. For a wedding, the Free plan usually isn't enough, because just 600 images take up around 5 GB.

Two ways to use picdrop for free
1. The 14-day trial. After signing up, you use picdrop for two weeks with all features and no limits. The trial ends automatically. You don't need to cancel anything and pay nothing unless you actively choose a plan.
2. The Free plan. If you don't choose a paid plan after the trial, picdrop automatically downgrades your account to Free. You can use it for free permanently as long as you stay within the limits.
Both are handled fairly. There is no hidden subscription trap.

picdrop's basic features include, among others:

What's missing: picdrop only lists your own branding and the presentation mode for image delivery from the Pro plan. In the Free plan you can upload and download videos, but not play them directly in the gallery.
So for simply exchanging images, Free is well equipped. For a handover that looks like your brand, less so. That also applies to the paid plans: picdrop is deliberately kept plain and functional, built for selection and approval, not for an emotional handover.
The limits in real jobs
1 GB sounds like a lot, but it isn't. At 8 MB per JPEG, about 125 images fit. And that's across all three galleries combined.

On top of that: the three galleries aren't a monthly limit but a fixed cap. If you want to deliver a fourth gallery, you have to delete an old one. Your previous clients then lose access.
What happens after the trial or a cancellation
Your galleries and files remain stored, even after switching to the Free plan. However, anything beyond 3 galleries or 1 GB can no longer be accessed or downloaded by your clients.
In practice, this means: if you uploaded a wedding during the trial and don't choose a plan afterwards, the couple can no longer get to their images. So clarify this before you send the link.
Who picdrop Free is enough for
- You photograph as a hobby and occasionally share images.
- You want to test the picdrop workflow before you pay.
- You deliver a few small jobs , such as individual portraits.
- You use picdrop for small selection rounds and delete them afterwards.
For these cases, Free is a good, honest solution.
When Free is no longer enough
The next tier is Pro for €17.99 net per month, or €14.99 per month with annual billing. For that you get 500 GB of storage, unlimited galleries, your own branding and the presentation mode. Over a year, that's €215.88 with monthly and €179.88 with annual billing.
Only the number of galleries is unlimited. Storage remains limited; picdrop doesn't offer an option without a storage limit in any plan.
For many photographers, that's a fair price. But it is a subscription: it keeps running even in months when you don't deliver a gallery.

If you only have a few paid jobs a year, a subscription often doesn't fit. That's exactly why PictoMento charges per gallery:

Not permanently, and we say so openly. You get three galleries free, with no credit card and no subscription. That's enough to test PictoMento with real jobs, such as a wedding including face recognition. After that, you only pay for the galleries you deliver.
We deliberately decided against a Free plan with a storage limit. A free plan that can't hold a wedding is of little help to wedding photographers.
