The first step is knowing exactly which photos they actually appear in, such that every user can control the privacy of the photos they are in. 

That’s where our smart face recognition works its magic, allowing the gallery to create a personalised “Just for You” gallery for every guest, filled with photos featuring them. From there, they can effortlessly manage their privacy settings and choose exactly how they want their memories shared.

How it works

Once your photos are uploaded to the gallery, our system gets to work immediately. Our specialized eco-friendly infrastructure (powered by 100% renewable energy) runs advanced face recognition models and scans through your images to identify faces. This means that we do not send your data to a 3^rd party and stays safe with us. Here’s the important part: we only use these models for analysis ONLY – we NEVER train them with your data. Your privacy is our priority. All the facial recognition is scoped within your gallery, and its data is not processed across galleries.

The system identifies faces by capturing unique facial landmarks – think of it as creating a digital map of key facial features. This data is extremely sensitive, so we protect it with military-grade encryption and automatically delete it as soon as it’s no longer needed.

The Magic Behind the Scenes

After identifying all faces across your photos, our system groups the faces together to determine which ones belong to the same person and reversely which photos this person is in within this gallery. Then, our special algorithm selects the best representation of each person – the one that will look perfect as a profile picture.

These selected faces are what you’ll see when you access the sharing menu – ready to use for organising and sharing.

Current Known Limitations: 

• While our machine learning models are highly effective, accuracy isn’t guaranteed at 100%. 
• Face detection for babies and young children may be less accurate at this time. If this affects your gallery, contact us for manual verification.
• Using Face detection on Video and GIF files is not currently available (though we’re working on it).
